Denni~ Lerov Thomson <br />Application Cor a conditional use pennit to establish a country w ern dance Cacility <br />within the existing Vintage Hills Shopping Center located at 355 Bernal Avenue. <br />Zoning Cor the property is PUD (Planned Unit Development) _ C N (Neighborhood <br />Commercial) District. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />A letter from Anthony and Thevelora Silva, and a letter from Denni and Anne Worden were <br />presented to the Commission prior to the meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Swift presented the staff report recommending approval of Case UP-92-33 subject to the <br />conditions of Exhibit B. He noted that an additional modification ha been added that all <br />doors must be kept closed during hours of operation. <br /> <br />Commissioner Mahern asked for clarification as to the closing hour n Friday and Saturday <br />night. Mr. Swift explained that the closing time for those nights wo Id be 11 :30 pm; it is <br />anticipated that the primary people who would participate would be ose taking lessons <br />during the week. The weekends would mainly be used for worksho and practice time. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright asked how stringent is the ruling that no alcoh lic beverages be <br />allowed on the site. He questioned whether the City would wait unti someone complains to <br />them directly before anything is done. Mr. Swift indicated that the ners are quite adamant <br />that no alcohol be consumed in the building or on the outside premi s. He was of the <br />opinion that the applicant would address the problem immediately sh uld it arise. He noted <br />that the City would probably be alerted to any problems by the neigh ors or the Police <br />Department who normally monitor areas such as this, or by the Code Enforcement officer <br />who does evening checkups. He further noted that the Planning Dep ment meets weekly <br />with the Police Department to go over any problems. <br /> <br /> <br />ts teach for the Parks <br />as so. <br /> <br />,-- <br /> <br />Commissioner Mahern asked whether the dance classes that the appli <br />and Recreation Department are just classes.
