our Community Park Initiative". Everyone that supported that initiative supported the
Master Plan as it was.

JOHN SULLIVAN · I'd like to reiterate the need for lighted fields.

· It seems to be an extravagant use of land for a train station when the one that we have on
the fairgrounds is more than adequate.

SAM PALLINO (Football League)
·Altemative 2 for the Community Park is the best because it includes football fields. Our
football league has not been able to grow due to limited field space. We only have two
fields and they are not regulation while other sports: soccer, tennis, baseball at least have
some regulation fields. We just want some regulation fields, Alternative 2 provides this.

LAURIE MONS (President of 4H Club) · A large part of the group has to do with animals, gardening and beekeeping.

· We'd like to thank the Task Force for giving us 8-13 acres of land in all 5 plans.

· The land could be used for a farm where people could keep their animals (pigs. sheep,
lambs, cattle, chicken, rabbits). A lot us have no place to keep our animals. It would be a
great place for us to meet and it should have electricity so we can meet at night

VERDIE JOHNSON
· We feel the Cultural Arts Center should not be separated from the sports facilities and
should be integrated with the Downtown.

LEONARD COOPER
· I know a little bit about sound. We have 4 tennis courts that are unusable because of
sounds from the freeway. In Bemal Proper~y Alternative A, a open space theater is near the
freeway and I'm positive the sound wall won't work and you won't be able to have the
performances you want to have there.

DAVID MELANDER
· There's been a YMCA here for 30 years. We (the YMCA) want to continue to work with
the City to develop a program and make it strong and viable. YMCA knows how to build
these types of facilities and support them and work with them.

WENDY LEE
· There is contemporary technology that can be used to design a theater on tilt that will
make the noise go down. Freeway noise won't be a problem.

Bernal Property Town Meeting ISummaryRepor~-Apn111,2005 Page 16
