Tri-Valley Haven's Life Skills Education Program <br /> <br />Executive Director Ann King made a presentation regarding Tri-Valley Haven's Life Skills Education <br />Program. Ms. King advised that the agency manages two (2) separate facilities, consisting of 30 domestic <br />violence beds and 16 homeless shelter beds. She also provided information about the Haven's Gateway and <br />Food Programs, and HOPE homeless services. <br /> <br />Ms. King stated that the Life Skills and client training program helped participants in the areas of coping <br />skills, anger management, assertiveness, budgeting, communication, conflict resolution, diversity, dressing <br />for success, goat setting, housekeeping, nutrition, parenting, problem solving, resume writing, time <br />management, and tax preparation. She advised that weekly classes and presentations are provided, followed <br />by a graduation celebration. <br /> <br />Commissioner Testa discussed life skills and the challenges faced by young people to learn them. <br /> <br /> C. Agency Visits <br /> <br />Chairperson Olson advised that she met with Barbara Thomas at Open Heart Kitchen (OHK), and discussed <br />program goals and objectives. She also informed the Commission that she had attended OHK's lunch <br />program at Asbury Church in Livermore. Chairperson Olson will also be conducting a site visit to Tri- <br />Valley Haven within the next week. <br /> <br />8. COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br /> A. Site Visit Reports for Bay Area Community Services and HOUSE~ Inc. by Jami Tucker <br /> <br />Ms. Morley advised that Ms. Tucker submitted her written site visit reports in conjunction with her <br />resignation from the Commission. Them were no additional comments. <br /> <br /> B. Letter of Resignation from Jami Tucker <br /> <br />A letter of resignation from Commissioner Tucker to Mayor Hosterman was reviewed. <br /> <br /> C.
