Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority
Special Transportation for Seniors and People with Disabilities

· Coordination with property management company to provide transportation to 175
seniors living in new senior housing complex (Ironwood Gate Senior Apartments).
· Coordination with LAVTA (through Gap Funding) to assist with medical return trips
(dialysis focus).
· Updated PPS Client Handbook, providing additional details about the service.
· Provided all PPS clients with the Access Alameda Transit handbook as part ofa reg/on-
wide transit training opportunity.

For FY 2005-06, the following needs have been identified:

· Replacement of one (1) paratransit vehicle.
· Coordination with LAVTA on driver training opportunities.
· Work with new assisted living facility (Park View Regent) staff to develop a
transportation plan prior to the opening of this facility.
· Work with LAVTA and a local nonprofit agency to start a volunteer escort program to
assist those frail individuals who need additional assistance on the vans.
· Coordinate with LAVTA on designing a client incentive program to use non peak
service hours.
· Work with the PPS Task Force to increase exposure to all types of transit services.

Service changes cannot keep abreast of the growing need for region-wide paratransit
services, especially medical appointments. Tl'fis need continues to increase as hospitals
consolidate, doctors specialize, and there are limited HMO affiliates.

During the first half of FY 2004-05, there have been 160 new riders using PPS. It is our
estimate that at least 250 new riders will register for the service in FY 2005-06.

Describe how services will be coordinated with other Measure B paratransit services
and/or mandated ADA paratransit services so that trips can be made throughout Alameda
County. Examples of coordination may include (but are not limited to) reciprocal fare
agreements, reciprocal agreements to provide trips into adjoining areas, arrangements for
clients to ride on other systems, and transfer arrangements. Attach copies of agreements
or memoranda of understanding for coordination.

Response:
As the primary Americans with Disabilites Act (ADA) provider for the Th-Valley
(Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin), the Livermore Amador Transit Authority (LAVTA)
completes coordination of rides into other parts of the Bay Area. LAVTA completes
certification of all ADA riders and coordinates this information with the Pleasanton
Paratransit office. LAVTA assures that this coordination is consistent with local and
regional requirements. PPS and LAVTA's WHEELS Dial-A-Ride programs work
together to coordinate fides for clients in the Th-Valley and throughout the Bay Area.
Through this partnership, more responsive client service is provided.
