_- f. PDR-402, Citv of Pleasanton
Application for design review approval to renovate the existing Pleasanton
Veterans Memorial Building located at 301 Main Street. Zoning for the property
is "O" (Office) District and Downtown Revitalization Overlay District.
This item was continued to the October 27, 2004 Planning Commission meeting.
7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
Canyon Meadows
Commissioner Sullivan noted that a resident of Canyon Meadows had asked him about
the status of the road improvements, especially from the eastbound turning pocket.
Ms. Kline replied that the future road plan will have a 12-foot wide dual left-turn lane,
with two 13-foot travel lanes on either side. Six-foot bicycle lanes will be placed on each
side from the Farmer's Insurance building to the western edge of Canyon Meadows. She
noted that the Canyon Meadows developer, J&L Construction, left in 1989 before
completing the Dublin Canyon improvements. She noted that it took a number of years
to collect on the bond and added that in order to accomplish the widening, a culvert must
be built over a creek, and in the meantime, the construction of the culvert is entangled
with environmental issues. To replace it, the new structure over the creek would be
_ within the confines of the creek. The Regional Water Quality Boazd and other outside
agencies as well as the Public Works Department are working on this issue. Ms. Kline
also indicated that the CEQA process must be completed before any work can begin.
In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Sullivan whether the turn pockets could be
completed, Ms. Kline replied that she would follow-up on the possibility of an interim
re-striping project.
Commissioner Kamenv
Commissioner Kameny advised that this would most likely be his last meeting and that
he would not be available on October 27, 2004. He expected that a new alternate would
be appointed by that time. He thanked staff for making his job easier and for providing
accurate answers. He noted that it had been a pleasure working with his fellow
Commissioners and wished them good fortune in the future. He was proud of the town
that Pleasanton had become and hoped that the Commission would continue in that
direction to make the decisions that will benefit all members of the community. He also
thanked his fiancee, Marty Wadekamper, who was very patient with the long hours spent
reading staff reports and attending meetings.
Chairperson Roberts extended best wishes to Commissioner Kameny.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES, October 13, 2004 Page 13 of 15
