^-. This site could accommodate affordable condominiums for young people returning to
Pleasanton after college.
South Bay Bernal Property Site
Concern was expressed that with Measure V, people are not expecting any more homes
to be built on the Bernal Property. The commercial element is part of the integrated
package that would create a walkable community. It would be good to get some
feedback from the community.
• This would be a good trade-off for ajobs-housing community.
• Measure V affects only City property obtained from Greenbriar Homes and does not
pertain to private property. This is a good location for housing because it is close to the
freeway and would not impact traffic.
Miscellaneous Infill Sites
Zia/Kaplan/Irbv
This site has setbacks from the Arroyo and Stanley Boulevard, which leaves very little
space to build houses.
Vinta¢e Hills Shopping Center
• This is one of the densest places in the community, and apartments would aggravate the
existing traffic caused by the Ruby Hill development and schools in the area.
Initiate a neighborhood process like that of the Ponderosa Homes project on Busch Road.
^ Mixed-use is acceptable; there is a need for a grocery and retail center in the area.
St. Au¢ustine's Church
^ No housing is proposed for this site.
Evaneelical Free Church
The neighborhood consists ofsingle-family homes; high-density housing would not fit
the existing character of the neighborhood. Leave this as an institutional site.
Request feedback from the residents to determine what could be done to assist them.
Kaiser Hospital Site
PLANNING COMMISSION GENERAL PLAN UPDATE MINUTES, 3/4/2004 Page 1 1 of 13
