Staff recommended approval of this item.
Chairperson Roberts found it odd that the reception area is in the front of the building but that
people would enter from the back.
Mr. Iserson advised that the main parking area is in the rear of the building but that there was
some parking in the front, as well. The reception area was typically not used very much.
THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED.
Noel Remigio, 3027 Promontory Circle, San Ramon, applicant, advised that there was more
room for traffic circulation in the back of the building and added that they would use the back
entrance to accommodate the landlord's wishes. He advised that the four spaces available in the
front would be used by staff members.
In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Maas, Mr. Remigio confirmed that the business was
primarily a training facility and that they would not hold any competitions. He advised that most
tournaments were held in large venues.
In response to an inquiry by Chairperson Roberts, Mr. Remigio advised that they would not use
any sand in the facility because of the environmental control difficulties.
THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED.
Commissioner Maas moved to make the use permit findings and approve PCUP-104 as
conditioned in the staff report and subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit B.
Commissioner Arkin seconded the motion.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Arkin, Fox, Maas, Roberts, and Sullivan.
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: Commissioner Kameny.
Resolution No. PC-2004-10 was entered and adopted as motioned.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES January 28, 2004 Page 5 of 17
