PUD-85-8-5D-IM. Wade McClure for Wal-Mart Stores. Inc.
Application for a major modification to an approved development plan and sign program to
allow the installation of a logo sign on the front facade of the Wal-Mart building located at 4501
Rosewood Drive. Zoning for the property is PUD - MCOIPD (Planned Unit Development -
Mixed Conunercial Office Industrial Planned Development) District.

Me. Iserson presented the staffreport on the application from McDonald's for a major modification
to an approved development plan and sign program to allow the installation of a logo sign on the
front facade of the Wal-Mart building located at 4501 Rosewood Drive. There was no mention
specifically that a McDonald's would be located within the Wal-Mart during the original design
review. No sign approval was granted for a fast-food restaurant. Staff felt the fast-food operations
(McDonald's) would be an ancillary use and an appropriate use within the building. After opening,
McDonald's wished to have exterior logo signs. Within the current sign program, staff felt the only
. signs they could approve under the PUD would be the addition of a McDonald sign and logo decals
on the entrance doors.

.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 10

June 12, 1996
