.

Commissioner Barker feels the current amount of handicapped parking is sufficient and meets
Code requirements; if more spaces are needed, she trusts the company to meet the needs of their
employees and stripe more handicapped spaces.

Commissioner McGuirk commented that people can get temporary handicapped parking placards.

Chairman Lutz feels that the applicants are aware of the number of handicapped persons needing
special parking. Commissioner Wright feels with such an abundance of parking, the applicants
could stripe more handicapped spaces.

Commissioner Barker asked that the applicants not construct all the parking in the first phase;
if parking is somewhat tight, more people may use carpooling and BART. Further, keeping all
of the proposed handicapped parking would increase the ratio figures.

Commissioner Hovingh is concerned that the jobs as described by Mr. Hashman could easily
be filled by handicapped persons, and the lack of handicapped parking could potentially impact
their future hiring practices. Mr. Iserson advised that if the applicants want to add more
handicapped parking, they would have to submit a minor modification to their parking plan.

In response to Commissioner Barker's request to phase the parking lot construction,
Commissioner Wright feels it is more efficient to construct the total parking lot when doing the
grading and compacting for the plaza and parking lot. Commissioner Barker asked that this be
left up to the decision of the applicants. Mr. Iserson noted that Condition 7 speaks to the
. phasing of the project and must be submitted to staff.

Commissioner Hovingh motioned, seconded by Commissioner McGuirk, making the PUD
findings for the proposed development plan modification and development plan approval
of PUD-80-16-7M and PUD-80-16-11D.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Barker, Hovingh, McGuirk, Wright and Chairman Lutz
None
None
None

The motion carried.

.

planning cammission Kinutes

pags 8

Kay 8. 1996
