.

.

.

d. Z-95-250. City of Pleasanton
Application for design review approval for the installation of an approximately 2,160
s'luare foot office modular adjacent to Cit)' HaU, located at 123 Main Street. 'LOnin"
for the property is P (Public and Institutional), Civic Overlay District.

Mr. Iserson presented the staff report regarding the proposed installation of a modular
building adjacent to City Hall. This is a temporary solution to house increased City staff and
would be in use for approximately four years.

The modular building would be located in the parking area near Bernal Avenue and Main
Street, adjacent to the City Administration Building at 123 Main Street. It is within the
Civic Overlay District and requires design review approval. The eight space parking lot
would be compensated elsewhere in the parking areas. It will have T-ll1 wood siding
painted to match the City Administration Building as well as matching windows and roofmg
material. There will be two handicapped ramps and two air conditioning units. Trees and
shrubs are recommended to screen the ramps and units. Stucco finish was considered to be
too costly for a temporary building.

The Commissioners were given at the meeting a marked-up site plan indicating the location
of the modular, existing landscaping, proposed landscaping, and the one tree that will need to
be removed for the modular installation. A comprehensive landscape plan will be completed
at a future date. Staff is recommending the Commission approve Z-95-250 to the City
Council.

Commissioner McGuirk inquired about Condition 3 and whether irrigation is available. Staff
advised they can almost assure that irrigation will be accessible to the planter areas.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED

No public testimony.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED

Commissioner Hovingh motioned, seconded by Commissioner Wright, recommending
approval of Case Z-95-250 to the City Council subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit
"B," with the following modification:

Condition 3: change "If irrigation is available, landscape planters..." to
"Irrigated landscape planters..."

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 7

January 10, 1996
