.

.

.

Ms. Grooms commented that there is no mention in the conditions as to days of the week the

uses could operate, only the hours of operation. Mr. Sehmsdorf advised that his work is done
primarily from Monday through Friday. He noted that he recently did ajob in Los Angeles and
needed to be at his shop on Sunday to load tools. He noted that there are occasions that he needs
to come in on the week-ends to do "prep" for work. He indicated that he is a general contractor
and that he goes through phases when the shop doesn't get used at all for a couple of weeks and
is used as a staging area to get tools and return them at night. He advised that he would like to
have access to the shop on the weekends.

Chair Cooper suggested that a condition be included prohibiting the use of power equipment and
the paint booth on weekends. Mr. Sehmsdorf stated that he would like the freedom to cut a piece
of wood if it is necessary. He also commented that the spray booth has a filter wall.

Commissioner Barker suggested that the use be limited to four hours after 9:00 a.m. and until
6;00 p.m. on the weekends. Mr. Sehmsdorf advised that he would be in agreement with that
condition.

PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED

Commissioner Wright suggested that conditions 5 and 6 be amended to state hours of operation
to be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. He noted that the applicant has implied
that the use on the week-ends will be limited. He commented that there are other conditions
which allow recourse for neighbors.

Commissioners Barker and Kumaran stated that they concur with Commissioner Wright.

Chair Cooper stated he agrees with the amended hours and he is in sympathy with adding the
word "odor" as suggested by Commissioner Dove. He advised that he hopes the Fire Department
will consider the impact of possible effluents from the stack on the neighboring residential
properties when they look at this site.

A motion was made by Commissioner Wright, seconded by Commissioner Barker, making
the conditional use permit findings and approving Case UP-97-26/Z-97-261, subject to the
conditions listed in Exhibit "B," with the following modifications:

Amend Condition #5 and #6 to add the following: Operations shall be limited
to the hours of 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Amend Condition #13 to add "odor."

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Barker, Dove, Kumaran, and Wright, and Chair Cooper
None
Commissioner Lutz
None

Resolution No. PC 97-87 was entered and adopted as motioned.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 4

October 22, 1997
