In response to a question from Commissioner Wright, Mr. Olson noted that there will be no signage
on the building, only two monument signs.

. PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED

Commissioner Kumaran stated that this is the type of project he is very happy about supporting,
noting that the floor area ratio, building height, and landscaping ratio is well within what is allowed.
He noted that the building is aesthetically pleasing.

Commissioner Barker commented that she feels it is an attractive building, and that she likes the way
the landscaping is incorporated. She stated that the building is almost a piece of art on the site. She
noted that she supports the added construction hours.

Commissioner Kumaran stated that he supports the extended hours as well.

Commissioner Wright stated that with regard to Condition 38 a cursory amount of coverage is
required for the fire sprinkler system. He noted that this is a standard condition and that he does not
feel it needs to be modified. He advised that he has no problem with modifying the starting time for
construction hours.

Commissioner Barker stated that perhaps the applicant wants to get their grading permit first, and that
she can support delaying the details for the fire sprinkler system.

.

Chair Cooper asked if the applicant intended to begin construction this fall. Mr. Olson replied that
they do.

Commissioner Lutz stated that he feels the building is attractive and that he supports the extension
of construction hours.

Chair Cooper commented that the building is well-designed and that the blue glass and gold is very
attractive. He noted that the 7:00 a.m. construction starting time is fine. He stated that he doesn't
know if the sprinkler issue is a problem or not, but if the modified language as suggested by
Commissioner Barker would fit the applicant's situation he could support it.

A motion was made by Commissioner Barker, seconded by Commissioner Kumaran, approving
Case PUD-81-30-72D, subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit "B," modifying Condition 20
to allow construction to begin at 7:00 a.m., and modifying Condition 38 to allow the Director
of Building Inspection to determine when the automatic fire sprinkler system details shall be
submitted.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Barker, Kumaran, Lutz, and Wright, and Chair Cooper
None
None
None

.

PlaDning Commission Minutes

Page 11

September 10, 1997
