8. MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW

a. Future Plannint! Calendar

Mr. Iserson noted that he had provided a plan this evening for each of the Commissioners showing
a proposal for the improvement of the building at 310 Main Street. He asked if the Planning
Commission wished to review this or if it should be referred to staff. There was consensus that staff
should handle this matter.

b. Actions of the City Council

There were none.

c. Actions of the Zoninl! Administrator

There were none.

d. Affordable Housinl! Commission Liaison to serve on the Planninl! Commission

Mr. Bocian advised the Commission that the Affordable Housing Commission expressed an
interest in creating a liaison position to the Planning Commission. The liaison would serve
in a similar capacity to the existing Planning Commission and Human Services Commission
liaisons who currently sit on the Affordable Housing Commission. This item is before the
Planning Commission to receive feedback from the Commission on this issue.

Chair Barker advised that she did not believe the Planning Commission should have a
representative on the Affordable Housing Commission. She stated that she is against people
serving on two commissions, and that others should be given the opportunity to get involved.
She noted that she is opposed to the suggestion regarding the Affordable Housing liaison, but
if it is something that should go forward she believes a Park and Recreation Commissioner
should attend the Planning Commission meetings.

Commissioner Wright commented that he felt the Planning Commissioner serving on the
Affordable Housing Commission should not have a vote and should be there for information.
He noted that only a few projects which are reviewed by the Planning Commission have
affordable housing issues. He feels it is appropriate to invite Affordable Housing Commission
members to come and listen and provide comments as necessary.

Commissioner Lutz stated that he believes the Planning Commission liaison should not have
a vote and that a liaison from the Affordable Housing Commission should not have a vote on
the Planning Commission. He stated that the overlap between the Affordable Housing and
Planning Commissions is not that great and that it would be more useful to have joint
meetings and workshops which would include staff.

Commissioner Dove asked if the Affordable Housing Commission receives copies of the
Planning Commission's Future Planning Calendar. Mr. Bocian advised that they are now
receiving copies in their packets.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 17

June 11, 1997
