· Who would use the widened roadway (local or cut-through)?
· Where were Pleasanton drivers coming from or going to as they used the road?
· What was the purpose of the trip (work, school, shop, recreation, etc.)?
-· What impact did the roadway widening have on driving times and driving distances for
local drivers?
· How did the roadway widening effect traffic volumes at 135 City intersections?
· How did the roadway widening effect cut-through traffic in Pleasanton?

The following is a summary of the traffic forecast model outputs.

Morning Peak Hour Dublin Canyon Road Users
At Buildout, morning peak hour traffic volumes would stay about the same on Dublin Canyon
Road (+/- 3 vehicles per hour) during the morning peak hour whether the roadway is widened or
remains at its current width. The morning peak hour volume is about 840 VPH, including about
240 (29%) cut-through vehicles. Most of this cut-through traffic is eastbound into the City.

The traffic model forecasts that if the roadway were not widened, the driving time for local
drivers on local roadways would stay about the same (+1 hour collectively) during the 7:30 to
8:30 AM peak hour. The traffic volume change is so minor that the additional driving time is
most likely due to the lower travel speeds associated with 2-lane roads versus 4-lane divided
roadways. Similarly, by removing the Dublin Canyon Road widening from the 1996 General
Plan Roadway Network, local drivers would drive about the same or less distance (-8 miles
collectively) along local City roadways to reach their destinations the 7:30 to 8:30 AM peak
hour.

The traffic model was run to forecast how traffic would change if the Dublin Canyon Road
widening were removed from the 1996 General Plan Roadway Network. The following two
tables summarize how morning peak hour driving time and distances decrease slightly for local
drivers when the widening is removed from the roadway network.

Cut-through traffic is listed separately by roadway type used and is not included in the trip
purpose totals.

SR 05:027
Page 45
