Some personal data is collected because the grant agency, California Library
Literacy Services (CLLS), requires collecting this data for funding and reporting
purposes. Data collected may include:
• Birth year
• Gender
• Race
• Ethnicity
• Education history
• Home country
• Primary language
• Personal goals for literacy tutoring.

Who Can and Cannot Access Library Data

Pleasanton Public Library limits access to data about individuals and their library use,
as required by California law. Data is only accessed by City staff to perform their duties.
Library members can access their accounts online using their card number, username,
and PIN. When members ask for information from their account, the library will need to
verify the user’s identity and will ask for a library card number or photo identification to
verify identity.
