City of Pleasanton Cemetery Proposal Page 3
Project Specific References

Catholic Diocese of Orlando,
Orlando, FL
Primary Contact: David Branson
Director of Cemeteries
(407) 246-4919
dbranson@orlandodiocese.org

In 2017 the Diocese of Orlando did
not have a cemetery for its growing
number of parishioners, and we were
hired to perform a feasibility analysis
to determine the viability of building
the first of potentially multiple new
cemeteries. We analyzed the demographics of the area, reviewed the competing cemeteries,
provided a recommended burial mix given disposition data and industry trending, and provided a
ten-year pro forma. Since that initial study we have completed a business plan and have played a
central role interfacing with the State of Florida, specifically the Cemetery Board. The cemetery
opened in 2020 and we continue to advise the Diocese. We are actively involved in the study
and de novo development of additional locations for the Diocese.

City of Sonoma Cemeteries
City of Sonoma, California
Primary Contact: Jenny Yankovich
Assistant to the City Manager
(707) 933-2203

The City of Cemetery maintains and operates
three cemeteries, Mountain Cemetery, Valley
Cemetery, and Veterans’ Cemetery. We worked
collaboratively with City leaders to provide
operation and administrative consulting. This
included a review of the existing staffing and
organizational structure, core policies and procedures, consumer pricing, and capital development
priorities. A significant component of our review was determining a long-term structure so that the
cemetery could be self-sustaining. At our presentation to the City Council the Sonoma Mayor,
Sandra Lowe remarked, “I’ve been through several proposals now regarding the cemeteries. We also
had the grand jury report and we’ve inherited this situation. This is the first time that I’ve seen a
clear-cut, defined plan to move us forward with this situation.”1

1 Hunter, C. (24, November 23).
