MILITARY EQUIPMENT USE REPORT 2023 <br /> <br /> <br />Equipment Name: Defense technology CS Pocket Tac'cal (Model 1016) <br />Quan/ty Owned/Sought: Up to 50 owned Lifespan: Approximately 5 years <br />Equipment Capabili/es: Deploys .9 ounces of CS gas for 20-40 seconds <br />Manufacturer Product Descrip/on: The CS Pocket Tac'cal Grenade is small and lightweight. The 0.9 <br />oz. of ac've agent will burn approximately 20-40 seconds. At 4.75” by 1.4” in size, it easily fits in most <br />tac'cal pouches. This is a launchable grenade; however, it is normally used as a signaling or covering <br />device. Though this device is slightly over four inches in length, it produces a smoke cloud so fast it <br />appears to be an enveloping screen produced by a full-size tac'cal grenade. <br />Purpose/Authorized Uses: To deploy chemi cal agents to encourage a suspect to surrender or <br />disperse. <br />Fiscal Impacts: The devices cost $30 each and are sold in quan''es of 12. <br />Annual Maintenance: $360, general fund <br />Personnel Cost: N/A. None in inventory. <br />Legal/Procedural Rules Governing Use: All use of force applica'ons are governed by state law <br />(including Penal Code sec'on 13652) and Pleasanton PD Policy Sec'ons 300 and 308. All chemical <br />agent deployments except handheld pepper spray and FN 303 deployments require a chemical agents <br />plan approved by a commander. Only trained members of the SWAT Team may deploy chemical <br />agents. <br />Training Required: Only officers who have received training on this device from a cer'fied chemical <br />agents instructor are authorized to use it. <br />Other Notes: None. <br />36
