Page 4 of 4 <br />Solicit Community Feedback <br />As liaisons between the staff, City Council and the community, Parks and Recreation <br />commissioners are in a unique place to hear from the community. In this role, <br />commissioners would seek the input of community members as related to parks and <br />recreation programs and services as well as landscape architecture projects and share <br />that information back to staff to assist in continual improvement efforts. <br /> <br />Act as an Advocates <br />In this role, commissioners would serve to champion parks, recreation, and trails within <br />the community by sharing information about programs, services and access. This could <br />happen on a large scale through outreach at events, or on a smaller scale through word <br />of mouth in social groups or through social media. <br /> <br />Serve as Liaison to Outside Agencies <br />In this role, commissioners could connect with other area entities to further access to <br />parks and trails, build networks and expand educational opportunities. <br /> <br />EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY <br />This action does not have an equity or sustainability component. <br /> <br />OUTREACH <br />In order to gain feedback from commissioners ahead of the City Council review and <br />adoption, staff is bringing this item to the Parks and Recreation Commission for review. <br /> <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />This action advances the following Citywide goals and strategies: <br /> <br />ONE Pleasanton Citywide Strategic Plan <br />• Optimizing Our Organization, Strategy 4 - Evaluate the organization’s structure of <br />community engagement opportunities (such as commissions and committees, <br />and citizens’ academy) to improve information sharing, optimize staff efficiency, <br />and provide greater service to the community. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> <br /> <br />Submitted by: <br /> <br /> Heidi Murphy <br /> <br />
