most vulnerable in our community.
Recently I have heard that some members of the commissions feel
they are not being utilized as hoped when appointed to their role on
the Commission due to staffing scheduling challenges and canceled
meetings, presentations by groups that don't have much to do with
the Commission's role or priorities. This sense of frustration and
feeling marginalized can lead to fewer individuals wanting to
participate in local government or that they are part of solutions to
building a better community.
I also have seen first hand as a member of the Pleasanton Cultural
Arts Council the significant length of time it takes to schedule
meetings with the Civic Arts Commission to move permanent public
art projects forward for approval. .
Please consider weighing in on the idea of collapsing the
commissions and the other suggested changes to the advisory bodies
who have helped shape Pleasanton over the years and enrich our
quality of life.
You can write an email to the City Council at
CityCouncil@cityofpleasantonca.gov by noon on this Tuesday, February
20th. You can also attend the Council meeting in person at 200 Old
Bernal Avenue or by going to the City's portal address above for
instructions on submitting a comment before 7:00pm. The agenda
item is #13.
Thank you for your time and interest.
Kelly Cousins
