Responses to City Council agenda items – February 20, 2024
Item 2
Q: How are the positions on the EVC being transitioned?
A: The business, educational and City Council representatives are coming off the EVC; those
include Alameda County Fair Association, Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, Pleasanton
Downtown Association, Hacienda, Stoneridge Shopping Center, Visit Tri-Valley, PUSD Board of
Trustees, and the City Council. These partners have regular meetings with City staff and/or
elected officials to discuss issues, including a monthly business partners meeting, the City-
PUSD monthly liaison committee meeting, participating in the Chamber’s monthly EDGR
meetings, and Hacienda’s general manager has several recurring meetings with staff, such that
these individual partners are in direct and continuous communication with the City.
As some positions were not filled in anticipation of the restructuring, there are currently 12
members on the EVC, including 6 business and community representatives. With the proposed
structure, 5 industry sector representatives and one citizen-at-large member will remain on the
committee; 3 new members would be recruited as part of the upcoming spring commission and
committee recruitment process. The industry sector positions were identified based on the
leading industries in Pleasanton’s economy, and incorporated into the new Economic
Development Strategic Plan (i.e., life sciences, downtown business, information technology).
The chart below outlines the transition between categories, as denoted by the positions in green
font.
