5. Q: I heard Aaron saying youth will get priority over the adult from the field
allocation priority classification which I did not find in the handbook. I request an
update of the same in the handbook.

A: Apologies for the miscommunication. Correction- If an organization qualifies for
co-sponsorship status, both youth and adult groups have equal opportunity. This is
part of our City-wide goal of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

6. Q: Want an easy way to know which user has the allocation of the fields on the city
website?

A: Currently, the field allocation is posted on the City website, listing each field and
the scheduled user. A Google document is used and updated in live time. Also
utilize field permits, which can be shared electronically within your organization.
7. Q: Can you help me understand - Fair Play in Community Sports Act (Gender
Equity)? Does that mean, girls' or women's teams get a priority above all from field
allocation priority?

A: The Fair Play Act requires that park and recreation departments provide girl and
boy athletes with equal opportunities and equal treatment in their youth sports
programs. Park and recreation departments must provide youth sports
participation opportunities for girls and boys in numbers that reflect the percentage
of girls and boys in the community. Additionally, the law requires that girls’ and
boys’ sports be given equal access to resources such as athletic fields and sports
equipment. This law covers programs run directly by park and recreation
departments as well as programs offered by third-party youth sports organizations
that use park and recreation facilities.

8. Q: On page 5 of 9, I request you to revalidate the wording - Games may not begin
until 8 a.m. and cannot begin after 9 p.m.

A: The handbook states, “Fields may be accessed at 7 a.m. for set-up and warm-
ups. Games may not begin until 8 a.m. and cannot begin after 9 p.m.” Given that
referee whistles, cheering, and other noise may accompany gameplay, we ask
that games not begin until 8 am. In the evening, we also ask that a game start no
later than 9 pm. We realize a game already in play may extend after 9 pm but
would not want the game to be stopped immediately at that time.

9. Q: On pages 6 and 7 of the document, the consideration list for field allocation by
the city staff should include the youth vs adult.

A: Both youth and adult co-sponsored groups have equal opportunity. This is part
of our City-wide goal of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
