Attachment 4: Co-Sponsored Organization Feedback
Sports Co-Sponsorship Athletic Field Allocation Handbook

Cricket for Cubs

1. Q: What is the process for reporting non-use of fields? Also, are there
repercussions for repeated non-use?
A: Thank you. We will add reporting processes and repercussions for non-use into
the handbook.
2. Q: Can the City stagger the field closure calendar?

A: The closure schedule in the handbook provides a framework to help groups
schedule league games appropriately, as well as assist Parks in scheduling
equipment, staffing, and products to maximize off-season work. In years past we
have staggered the field closures, primarily at Sports Park. This past Fall 2023, we
worked with Parks to stagger closures at the Sports Park and allow for the
completion of fall sports seasons. In the event of rain, staff will continue to work
with groups to best accommodate field needs. The Parks Division does not have a
problem with continuing this practice based on field conditions, but closures for
maintenance will take precedence over league schedules.

We also have to consider Opening Days for baseball and softball in spring, falling
on the first Saturday of March. We must open fields for this event and therefore
need sufficient closure time for recovery and repair to do so. We also stagger
spring opening dates to provide practice time for both groups before Opening Day.

3. Q: Need storage for the cricket group to store the game and training equipment.
Small knack box will do.

A: This has been included in the cricket construction project. A concrete pad and
knack box are present.

4. Q: Had a question regarding cricket’s “sports season” (spring). Cricket’s season
will run through September, so will cricket be able to use the pitch into the fall?

A: Thank you for the field request this early. Schedules that may not coincide with
other season’s start dates will need to be worked out between groups. Soccer
traditionally uses Soccer Field 6 in the fall. We can begin talks early in the year for
best planning.
