BACKGROUND
Harvey Electric is the City's as-needed electrical contractor. This past year, the City has
experienced failures in the underground electrical system at the Callippe Preserve Golf
Course and Ken Mercer Sports Park, resulting in significant unplanned/emergency
work. The Parks Division also experienced unexpected electrical issues involving
irrigation controllers that require expedited repair to maintain irrigation to sports fields
and medians. These extensive repairs are necessary to ensure our City-owned
properties are appropriately maintained and functional for staff and the public.
DISCUSSION
Through the current agreement, Harvey Electric has supported numerous projects,
including the removal and installation of the electrical components for the City Council
chamber renovation. As well, Harvey Electric will play a significant role in multiple
upcoming projects in the current fiscal year, including the Police Department office
extension, minor construction repairs at Fire Station #2 and the Fire Training Tower,
and minor electrical improvement repairs for the Parks Division building. When
combined, these additional projects will necessitate an increase in the agreement.
With this, Staff is recommending a $400,000 amendment to the Harvey Electric
agreement for a cumulative not-to-exceed total of$1,500,000 over a five-year term.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
Adam Nelkie Susan Hsieh Gerry Beaudin
Acting Director of Public Works Director of Finance City Manager
Attachment:
1. Fourth Amendment to the As-Needed Agreement with Harvey Electric
Page 2 of 2
