9.6 Vacation Sell Back <br /> Employees may request to sell back up to two hundred forty (240) hours of accrued vacation leave in <br /> each calendar year. Employees may sell back accrued vacation leave in one (1) hour increments with <br /> a minimum sell back of eight(8)hours on the first pay date in March,June, September and December <br /> of each year. Written requests for payment must be made by the employee fifteen(15)days in advance <br /> of the first pay date in March,June, September and December. <br /> Section 10. Sick Leave <br /> 10.1 Sick Leave Accrual—56 Hour Shift Employees <br /> Battalion Chiefs assigned to a 56-hour work schedule shall earn sick leave at the rate of eleven and <br /> two-tenths (11.2) hours for each month of service. Battalion Chiefs assigned to a 56-hour work <br /> schedule may accumulate an unlimited number of sick leave hours subject to the following: <br /> a. A maximum of 2,912 accumulated sick leave hours are available for use as paid time <br /> off at any given time in accordance with sections 10.3 and section 10.4 below. <br /> b. Sick leave hours accrued in excess of 2,912 are placed in a separate sick leave bank for <br /> conversion to additional service credit at the time of retirement and are not available <br /> for use as paid time off during employment. <br /> C. Sick leave accrual will resume once the employee's accumulated sick leave hours drop <br /> below the 2,912 maximum. <br /> d. All unused accumulated sick leave hours and any accumulated hours over the 2,912 <br /> sick leave maximum will be converted to additional service credit at the time of <br /> retirement in accordance with Government Code section 20862.8(CaIPERS"Credit for <br /> Unused Sick Leave"). <br /> C. Battalion Chiefs on leave pursuant to Labor Code section 4850 shall accumulate sick <br /> leave hours during said leave in accordance with this section. <br /> 10.2 Sick Leave Accrual—40 Hour Shift Employees <br /> Battalion Chiefs assigned to a 40-hour work schedule shall earn sick leave at the rate of eight(8)hours <br /> for each month of service. Battalion Chiefs assigned to a 40-hour work schedule may accumulate an <br /> unlimited number of sick leave hours subject to the following: <br /> a. A maximum of 2,080 accumulated sick leave hours are available for use as paid time <br /> off in accordance with sections 10.3 and 10.4 below. <br /> b. Sick leave hours accrued in excess of 2,080 are placed in a separate sick leave bank for <br /> conversion to additional service credit at the time of retirement and are not available <br /> for us as paid time off during employment. <br /> C.
