d. All unused accumulated sick leave hours and any accumulated hours over the 2,080 <br /> sick leave maximum at the time of retirement in accordance with Government Code <br /> section 20862.8(CalPERS "Credit for Unused Sick Leave"). <br /> e. Battalion Chiefs on leave pursuant to Labor Code section 4850 shall accumulate sick <br /> leave hours during said leave in accordance with this section. <br /> 10.3 Sick Leave Usage <br /> Employees may use accumulated sick leave in one (1)hour increments as follows: <br /> A. For the employee's own diagnosis,care, or treatment of an existing health condition or for the <br /> employee's own preventative care, including routine medical and dental appointments. <br /> B. For the diagnosis, care,or treatment of an existing health condition or preventative care for an <br /> employee's family member, including routine medical and dental appointments. For purposes <br /> of this provision, "family member" includes: a biological, adopted, or foster child, stepchild, <br /> legal ward, or a child to whom the employee stands in loco parentis, a biological, adoptive or <br /> foster parent, stepparent, or legal guardian of an employee or the employee's spouse or <br /> registered domestic partner, or a person who stood in loco parentis when the employee was a <br /> minor child, spouse, registered domestic partner, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling or a <br /> designated person. A designated person is one identified by the employee at the time the <br /> employee requests paid sick leave.The Department may limit the employee to one designated <br /> person per year. Employees assigned to a 56-hour work schedule may utilize a maximum of <br /> one hundred forty-four(144)hours of accumulated sick leave per calendar year and employees <br /> assigned to a 40-hour work schedule may utilize a maximum of(96)hours of accumulated sick <br /> leave for this purpose. <br /> C. Sick Leave may also be used to obtain any relief or services related to being a victim of <br /> domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking including the following with appropriate <br /> certification of the need for such services: <br /> 1. A temporary restraining order or restraining order. <br /> 2. Other injunctive relief to help ensure the health, safety or welfare of themselves or <br /> their children. <br /> 3. To seek medical attention for injuries caused by domestic violence, sexual assault, <br /> or stalking. <br /> 4. To obtain services from a domestic violence shelter, program, or rape crisis center <br /> as a result of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. <br /> 5. To obtain psychological counseling related to an experience of domestic violence, <br /> sexual assault, or stalking. <br /> 6. To participate in safety planning and take other actions to increase safety from <br /> future domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, including temporary or <br /> permanent relocation. <br /> 4894-5387-2224 v2 16 <br />
