• The most recent collision report does not elevate the three Valley Avenue pedestrian crossings as the most dangerous
intersections.
• The Stoneridge Drive protected bike lane project covers a zone between Rheem and Guzman where no collisions have
occurred.Since that zone runs parallel to the Arroyo Mocho trail, there is a viable alternative for those cyclists seeking a ..
lower-stress alternative. The Arroyo Mocho trail also goes underneath the Santa Rita intersection,so it's a safer alternative
Past presentations referred to this zone from Santa Rita to Trevor(a longer distance)and called it a buffered bike lane
(buffered means paint, protected means bollards). I'm all for protected bike lanes but there are other, more immediate
needs.
• The 1-580 overcrossing project is not ready to implement(RES-4108 requirement 3.e.). None of the three interchanges
showed a bicycle collision in the recent report, unlike Fallon at 580 and Stoneridge at 680.This last went before Council in
2018.
In the Complete Streets Checklist, question 1 is: Does Project implement Plans,or other locally adopted recommendations?
The answer given is"YES"and"These projects are provided in the Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan, adopted in 2018."To the best
of my knowledge, this is not true.
I understand that BPTC approved this.As a former member, I know that requests like this were never presented as a confirmation of
eligibility nor as a prioritization exercise. Instead, it was"...based on review of existing conditions, feedback from all
departments within the city and feedback from residents, Staff has determined..."
Thank you,
Todd Nelson
.•r
2
