SECTION II (Continued) <br /> 1. Regular Meetin s <br /> The Council shall meet in the City Council Chambers for all regular meetings. <br /> The regular meetings shall begin at 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of <br /> each month, unless otherwise specified by posted notice as required by law and <br /> these policies. If the meeting date should fall on a legal holiday, the Council <br /> shall meet at a time and date so designated by the Council. The Council may <br /> conduct closed session meetings (see II. B. 4. below) preceding regular meetings <br /> at 6:30 p.m., or at any other time called by the Council. <br /> 2. Adiourned Meetin s <br /> Any meeting of the City Council may be adjourned to a later date, place, and <br /> time provided no adjournment is for a longer period than the next regularly <br /> scheduled meeting. <br /> 3. Special Meetings <br /> Special meetings may be called by the Mayor or by a majority of the <br /> Councilmembers. The call for a special meeting must specify the day, hour, and <br /> place and shall specify the subject/subjects to be considered as required by law. <br /> Twenty-four hours notice must be given prior to the meetings. Only specified <br /> matters may be discussed at special meetings. <br /> 4. Closed Session Meetin s <br /> Closed sessions may be held in accordance with the provisions of the Brown Act. <br /> The purposes for closed session meetings include consideration of personnel <br /> matters, labor relations, matters of public security, and discussion of litigation. <br /> Closed sessions shall be scheduled, to the extent possible and appropriate, <br /> immediately preceding or following regular or special Council meetings. <br /> The City Attorney shall advise the Council on the appropriateness of closed <br /> session meetings. <br /> 5. Study Session (Workshop) Meetings <br /> The Council may meet informally in Study Sessions or Workshops called by the <br /> Mayor or by a majority of the Council. Study Sessions shall be held to receive <br /> briefings and background information and hold general discussions on major <br /> issues before formal Council action is required. Study Sessions are open to the <br /> public and are meetings for purposes of the Brown Act. Other than providing <br /> direction to staff, Council may not take any formal action at Study Session <br /> meetings. <br /> r <br /> 3 <br />
