Housing Element AFFH Survey Summary <br /> <br />24 <br />The following provides theme areas that arose for respondents regarding the cause for optimism: <br /> <br />• Home values: Respondents expressed optimism that home values are rising (6 mentions) <br />• Economy/Employment: respondents identified a sense of optimism due to a strong economy <br />and growing tax base in Pleasanton (12 mentions) <br />• Community: Respondents identified a strong sense of community within Pleasanton as a <br />cause for optimism (65 mentions) <br />• Governance: Some respondents identified local governance and community participation as a <br />cause for optimism (10 mentions). <br />• Other responses included optimism about: <br />o School Quality (4) <br />o Sense of safety (17) <br />The following provides theme areas that arose for respondents regarding the cause for concern within <br />their neighborhood: <br /> <br />• Affordable Housing & Housing affordability: Respondents expressed concern about <br />affordable housing including the limited number of affordable housing units available to <br />concerns that the housing supply is so limited that first time buyers are priced out without <br />equity from another residence (65) <br />• Homelessness: Concerns about homelessness ranged from concern that more seniors and <br />family are becoming homeless, to concerns about homeless encampments (19) <br />• Displacement: Respondents expressed concern that they would soon be priced out of <br />Pleasanton and that people in the workforce have been priced out (15) <br />• Density: Respondents expressed concern about population growth within the Bay Area and <br />Pleasanton and expressed concern about “over development” (14) <br />• Other concerns include: <br />o Cost of living (17) <br />o Crime/safety (44) <br />o Climate (5) <br />o Senior Housing (2) <br />o Housing Availability/Access (13)
