<br />Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Committee Minutes August 22, 2022 <br />Page 4 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />A BPTC member stated she would like to keep the Callippe Trail pedestrian but would <br />like it cleaned up. <br />Landscape Architect Gruber explained the process for design, contracting and funding <br />for the project. He stated the multi-use plan was determined during the specific plan <br />process. <br /> <br />A BPTC member stated she would vote for the Augustin Trail if the $50,000 was <br />necessary for completion but would also like to see a project completed. <br /> <br />6. Review the Public Outreach results and provide input on the Lions Wayside <br />and Delucchi Parks master plan update <br /> <br />Landscape Architect Gruber and Richard Larson, MIG Consulting, presented the report <br />including project background, 2014 Master Plan, 2022 Conceptual Plan, Parks and <br />Recreation Commission and City Council recommendations, public outreach, and next <br />steps. <br /> <br />Chair Fields explained the Parks and Recreation Commission consensus on the location <br />of the band stand. <br /> <br />Mark Miller, 1st Street resident, discussed his observations regarding concert in the park <br />attendees, concern with dramatically altering the park and reduced capacity with <br />relocating the bandstand. He discussed groups of people enjoying the existing open <br />areas of the park. He expressed concern with rerouting the creek and loss of trees and <br />suggested upgrading the park rather than changing the entire park. <br /> <br />A BPTC member discussed the history of the bridge and creek existence. He suggested <br />there were too many trees and indicated support for simplified improvements. <br /> <br />Member Stewart echoed Mr. Miller’s comments regarding concert in the park attendees <br />and asked about capacity. Mr. Larson discussed the goal to retain the square footage of <br />audience area. He stated details of the creek alignment were yet to be determined and <br />anticipated potential audience area capability. Landscape Architect Gruber clarified that <br />the plans were conceptual. He discussed the potential for increased creek area. <br /> <br />A BPTC member discussed concern with safety due to traffic and indicated support for <br />the proposed buffer. <br /> <br />In response to A BPTC member, Landscape Architect Gruber discussed the <br />demographics of the questionnaire respondents and means of obtaining input. <br /> <br />Member Piekarski requested clarification on the trail locations. Landscape Architect <br />Gruber explained the trail widths and buffers. Member Piekarski stated the existing trail <br />was too narrow for bicyclists and pedestrians to share. She indicated support for the <br />proposed plan. She asked the for the location of the trail from Neil to Angela. Landscape
