Chan - e Orders
A total of 38 proposed change orders were received from GradeTech, Inc. for work that
has been completed. These were combined into eight City change orders which are
grouped by similar changes, encumbering an estimated total of $213,013. Final pricing
has been completed on four of the eight change orders, with the other four in final
negotiations and awaiting supporting documentation from the contractor. A ninth change
order is being drafted for the proposed work for the Civic Park renovations. The
following details the nine change orders (see Attachment 3):
Storm drain system modifications
Extra work was performed to modify the drainage and Silva Cell system. The Silva
Cell system being used in this project will provide stormwater treatment for the
parking lot and create a larger root area below hardscaped surfaces, improving tree
and planting health. The storm drain lines were modified to match existing tie-in
conditions and site constraints. Additional aggregate base material and biotic soil
media were utilized to mitigate the unstable trench subgrade and to provide support
to the Silva Cell system under the pavement section.
Final cost: $29,149.83.
2. Modifications to the retaining wall
The retaining wall was adjusted to fit existing grades and required additional
concrete and rebar. Final cost: $2,233.46
3. Electrical changes
The PG&E service connection point was changed by PG&E, requiring an additional
220 feet of trenching and conduit. Also, various minor changes with conduits,
lighting, wire and boxes were required for retaining wall adjustment and other site
constraints. Estimated cost: $21,977.25
4. Planting and irrigation
The irrigation system within many of the planter areas was changed to bubblers to
improve water efficiency. The specified plantings within the parking island planters
were changed to provide more clearance for vehicle door swings.
Final Cost $21,900.41
5. Additional temporary fencing
Additional temporary fencing was increased to encompass the area for removal of
the trees in Civic Park and the future park improvements. Final Cost: $2,158.62
6. Various minor changes
Various changes were required such as adding a storm drain sleeve under the
retaining wall, modifying concrete curb, storm drain trench back -fill in conflict with
the crossing utility, modifications to paver areas, etc. Estimated Cost $1,717.90
Page 4of6
