Subject: Proposed school at Lighthouse Baptist Church
Dear Mr. Luchini,
As a Pleasanton resident living at 1st Street, I am very concerned about the
impact of the proposed school at Lighthouse Baptist Church. As you are aware, the
traffic on 1st street has increased significantly in recent years. Our street is now a
thoroughfare for residents of Livermore, many of whom speed and disregard the stop
light at 1st and Neal. Does Pastor Bryson not see the danger in this?
Where are the parents going to park when taking their children to
school? Obviously, there is no parking for a school, so they will need to park on 1st
and second streets, highly limited already. Additionally, the parking situation is
currently a problem for Pleasanton residents wishing to utilize Wayside Park or go to
Meadowlark dairy.
Finally, are these school children not going to play outside for recess? There is no
land for a playground and the church property backs up to private homes. These
homeowners will not be able to enjoy their backyards or have any privacy.
We all have too much invested in our property and surely this will negatively
affect property values.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter,
Karen and Mark Miller
include, traffic congestion and speed of cars already traveling on Neal
Street, the five day a week commuter traffic which starts at 3 pm daily(worse since COVID with the
nonuse of public transportation and the work that is never done on Highway 84),the dairy/park
traffic and parking, Weekends on Main traffic and downtown parking, farmers market, overflow
parking for staff and visitors of Generations Healthcare 7 days/week, upcoming Amazon traffic, new
dense housing on Stanley, and the proposal of using the PUSD offices as more high density housing.
We are not complaining about the things that we "knew" when moving on First Street.
Many of these things bring joy to MANY as well as ourselves.
We believe that the whole picture needs to be seen when determining the impact on an already
very busy neighborhood especially by those that do not live here or understand.
It is just not the spot for a school and all that entails.
arents have to park to walk their kids across the street, they
would violate the conditions of the CUP by parking in the neighborhood
If the church goes beyond the maximum number of students and parents, volunteers and staff would park in the shrinking spots available Again,we
neighbors would have to be the monitors for compliance
The church has been a good neighbor but we think the school goes too far in asking the neighborhood to put up with more traffic and more of everything
this proposal would bring
Best,
Christine and Brian Bourg
