Materials & Consumption | 45Pleasanton Climate Action Plan 2.0 <br />Materials & Consumption <br />Reduce waste and promote <br />sustainable consumption. <br />Materials & Consumption in Pleasanton <br />Materials and consumption emissions come primarily from solid waste <br />collection and processing. Consumption-based emissions were not <br />measured. <br />• 5% of community emissions in 2017 <br />Performance since 2012 <br />Since 2012, Pleasanton has taken the following steps to reduce GHG <br />emissions from the Materials & Consumption sector. <br />• Expanded residential yard and food waste collection program to <br />multi-family residences. <br />• Expanded commercial curbside recycling to include organics. <br />Materials & Consumption Goal(s) <br />Reduce GHG emissions from materials management and <br />consumption which will support regional waste reduction efforts. <br />Key Performance Indicators (vs. 2017) <br />Success will be monitored in the Materials and Consumption <br />sector by tracking progress against the following key performance <br />indicators: <br />• Reduce waste in landfills by 8%, to ~93,800 tons annually <br />By 2030, 13% of emissions reductions <br />will come from this sector
