Mr.Matt Gruber
Subject: Augustin Bernal Mountain Bike Trail Additional Services
SCOPE OF WORK
Additional IS/MND and Project Design Services
TASK 4.2: INITIAL STUDY/MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION
Dudek will utilize existing budget to complete text edits to the IS/MND to incorporate the additional
information about trail decommissioning and biological protection measures. We request additional
budget to provide for creating new figures to support the additional project design information and
senior review of the text edits.
TASK 5: PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Dudek's Project Manager, Katherine Waugh, and Dudek's lead biologist, Sean O'Brien, will continue
to work with the City to complete the CEQA process for this project. Mr. O'Brien will provide senior
level review of the biological resource protection measures to be integrated into the project design.
Ms. Waugh will coordinate field work and completion of edits to the Initial Study to reflect the
additional details presented in the project design plans to better reflect the biological resource
protection measures. Ms.Waugh will also continue to complete the Project Management tasks
described in our existing contract.
TASK 7A: FIELDWORK TO MAP TRAILS TO BE DECOMMISSIONED
During previous fieldwork, mapping was only done for trails to be decommissioned where they
intersected the main trail. In many cases, the portions of these trails not immediately adjacent to the
main trail were not located, nor were the widths recorded, so the full extent and area of trails to be
decommissioned can not be accurately determined from the available information. This information
is needed to demonstrate that the trail decommissioning will fully mitigate for the proposed
improvements to the main trail.
To execute this task, Dudek's biologist will visit the park and record the alignments and approximate
widths of the trails to be decommissioned using a GPS with sub-meter accuracy. This data will be
differentially corrected to improve accuracy and will be incorporated into the project GIS data. The
total area of trail to be decommissioned will be calculated. The data will also be imported into CAD to
update the drawings.
TASK 7B: CONSTRUCTION DRAWING UPDATE
Dudek will update the Project construction drawings to incorporate the new data and add two
additional sheets of protection measures to avoid impacts to Alameda whipsnake. Updated
construction drawings will be delivered to the City in draft format for review and comment.
Comments will be addressed and a final version of the construction drawings, signed and stamped
by a landscape architect registered in the State of California, will be provided to the City in PDF
format.
DUDEK 2 November 2021
