activities as needed, and respond to law enforcement related matters as they occur during regular school hours. 10. The parties recognize and acknowledge that the mission of the DISTRICT is to serve all students and their families and provide them with the opportunity for equitable access and participation in the DISTRICT's schools and education programs and further recognize that undocumented students have the same right as U.S. citizens to attend public schools. The parties will work in collaboration to further this mission and to foster an atmosphere in which all families feel welcome and safe on DISTRICT campuses. 11. The SROs will provide pro -active intervention at DISTRICT sporting events and other activities, as needed, during regular school hours, and after school hours. 12. The DISTRICT will engage in the initial intervention and evaluation of students in crisis. After the District has conducted the initial evaluation of the students, and it is determined that additional resources are needed to support the students immediate mental health needs, will SRO assistance be requested. 13. The DISTRICT and the CITY agree that mental health of students is an integral part of a safe campus and will prioritize mental health by ensuring a multi- disciplinary approach, wherein school administrators, school counselors and SROs collaborate, when feasible, when responding to students in crisis. (After determining it is safe to do so, notification will be made to the students' parents and/or guardian.) 14. The DISTRICT and the CITY agree that the school discipline of students is the responsibility of the site and DISTRICT administration and preventing and investigating crime is the responsibility of the SRO. The DISTRICT administration will not rely on the SRO for assistance in handling school discipline to include non -criminal bullying and harassment. The CITY and DISTRICT'S school administration will collaborate to work in the best interest of the student and the student body. CITY will document and investigate all incidents of crime pursuant to Pleasanton Police Department policies and procedures. 15. The CITY will maintain records concerning the performance of services of the Pleasanton Police Department and those records will be maintained in the office of the Sergeant of SROs. Such records consist of this MOU, monthly statistics maintained by the SROs relating to all incidents handled at a DISTRICT facility, and any other document or record, which relates to any language contained in this MOU. 16. The CITY will investigate all written complaints it receives from students or parents from the DISTRICT on behalf of any students or parents regarding the actions or performance of its officers in carrying out their duties as SROs.
