assign a representative to be involved in the selection process. SROs will attend a <br />40 -hour School Resource Officer course from a California Police Officer <br />Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) approved (or equivalent) training center as <br />soon as practical. Officers assigned will continue to receive police department <br />training in implicit bias, de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution, and <br />restorative justice. Police Department training will also be provided on working <br />with students with disabilities and LGBTQ student groups. The CITY will <br />recommend the SRO as part of their assignment within DISTRICT schools make <br />all efforts to participate in relevant staff training opportunities including but not <br />limited to climate and culture training, mental health, basic child development, <br />and training in equity and cultural competence. <br />3. Any additional officer positions assigned to the DISTRICT will be mutually <br />agreed upon by the DISTRICT and CITY and will be dependent upon Police <br />Department resources. <br />4. SROs will endeavor to spend much of their time at their assigned schools; <br />however, unusual circumstances or Police Department staffing level requirements <br />may require the officers to be temporarily deployed elsewhere. <br />5. The CITY agrees to furnish normal equipment for the officers who provide these <br />services, including the use of a Pleasanton Police Department vehicle. The SRO <br />will normally wear a Police Department approved uniform; however, the SRO <br />may wear other appropriate clothing depending upon the activity in which the <br />SRO is engaged. <br />6. The DISTRICT will make office space available at each campus with the prior <br />approval of the school site Principal for interviewing, counseling and the <br />completion of administrative functions as needed and as permitted under the <br />terms of the Agreement and in compliance with the applicable Board policies and <br />administrative regulations. This is to maximize the time the School Resource <br />Officers spend on campus. <br />7. SROs will have access to student educational records as allowable by the <br />California Education Code and PUSD Board Policies and Administrative <br />Regulations on Student Records. PUSD will not release student information or <br />student records to non -educational organizations or to non -school officials or <br />employees, without parent consent, except by court order, receipt of lawfully <br />issued subpoena, or when otherwise allowed by law (Ed. Code, §§ 49060 et seq., <br />49073), (PUSD BP/AR 5125). <br />8. The officer will work with school site administration to develop and facilitate <br />classroom presentations designed to strengthen the relationship between youth <br />and law enforcement. <br />9. The SROs; in consultation with school site administration, will also work with <br />community agencies and parent/teacher/student groups, schedule security <br />Page 2 of 13 <br />
