Revised Proposal for Geotechnical Pavement Investigation BSK Proposal GL21-21837B
W. Las Positas Boulevard September 15, 2021
Pleasanton, California Page 5
our borings;
• A description of the site geologic setting and associated geology related hazards, including faulting
and expansive soils;
• Conclusions and recommendations related to the geotechnical aspects of:
o Possible causes of the settlement and movement taking place at the Site;
o Possible mitigation options for the Site including, but not limited to:
o Overexcavation and replacement with light weight fill;
o Use of geotextiles and/or geofabrics under the pavement section;
o Control and/or removal of surface water and tree roots;
o Structural support or compaction grouting of bridge approach ramps;
o Recommendations for site preparation, earthwork, and fill compaction specifications; and
o Construction considerations and limitations.
We will provide an electronic copy of our draft report in PDF format.
Task 5—Final Report
Upon receipt of review comments from the City, we will revise our draft report and issue it as final. We
will provide an electronic copy of our final report in PDF format.
OPTIONAL Task 6—Investigation and Report for 1-680 to Hopyard Road Segment
If desired by the City, we can also investigate the portion of West Las Positas Boulevard between 1-680
and Hopyard Road at a future date. We propose to investigate this portion of the roadway with nine (9)
borings located approximately as shown on Figure 3. The estimated fee for this investigation are
presented in the fee table below as an optional task. This fee assumes that this investigation and report
would be conducted separately from other roadway segments. If this investigation was conducted
concurrently with the main investigation and/or the optional Task 7 below, some cost savings could be
realized.
Note:Two of our planned borings are within the Caltrans right-of way(ROW) as shown on Figure 3.We
can discuss with the City the possibility of moving these borings to alternative locations outside the
Caltrans ROW to avoid obtaining a costly and time consuming Caltrans encroachment permit. However,
if these borings are not drilled within the Caltrans ROW, we will not be able to assess the approach
ramp fill.We have not included fees or time by BSK personnel to obtain a Caltrans drilling permit within
our fee estimate for this task.
OPTIONAL Task 7—Investigation and Report for Stoneridge Drive to Santa Rita Road Segment
If desired by the City, we can also investigate the portion of West Las Positas Boulevard between
Stoneridge Drive and Santa Rita Road at a future date. We propose to investigate this portion of the
roadway with six (6) borings located approximately as shown on Figure 4. The estimated fee for this
investigation are presented in the fee table below as an optional task. This fee assumes that this
investigation and report would be conducted separately from other roadway segments. If this
