Las Positas Boulevard September 15, 2021 <br /> Pleasanton,California Page 4 <br /> be backfilled with cement grout per County requirements. Approximately 6 inches of the top of each <br /> boring will be patched with Quikrete (i.e.,fast-setting concrete). Excess soil cuttings will be collected and <br /> disposed of at a landfill facility offsite. <br /> We anticipate performing our exploration during weekdays only (Monday through Friday) between the <br /> hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm or as otherwise permitted per the City encroachment permit.We will retain <br /> the services of a traffic control subcontractor that will provide full traffic control services during drilling. <br /> We expect our field investigation will last eight(8) days if we mobilize one drill rig. <br /> Although this is rare, in the event that hazardous materials are encountered as indicated visually or by <br /> odor in the soil borings during our subsurface investigation, such borings will be immediately terminated <br /> and arrangements will be made to backfill such borings with cement grout. BSK will notify you as soon as <br /> possible of such an occurrence, and we will mutually decide whether to continue, modify, or cease the <br /> remainder of the investigation program. All added cost incurred as a result of suspected hazardous <br /> substances would be charged on a time and expense basis over and above the fee estimate for the <br /> geotechnical investigation using our current fee schedule. <br /> Task 3—Laboratory Testing <br /> Laboratory tests will be performed on selected soil samples to evaluate pertinent engineering properties <br /> for design of the project. Laboratory tests which we anticipate performing may include measurement of <br /> in-situ moisture content and dry density, Atterberg limits, shrink/swell, sieve analysis, R-value, <br /> consolidation, and shear strength testing. A spreadsheet showing our anticipated laboratory testing <br /> program is presented as an attachment. Note that this testing program is subject to change based on the <br /> soils and subsurface conditions we encounter during the investigation. However,this will be the basis of <br /> our actual laboratory testing program. <br /> We will temporarily store the samples collected during our investigation (but not tested in the lab) for a <br /> period of up to 180 days from the date of drilling. After this period,we will dispose of the samples unless <br /> otherwise requested by the Client. <br /> Task 4—Engineering Analysis and Draft Report Preparation <br /> We will evaluate our findings and perform geotechnical engineering analysis to develop conclusions and <br /> recommendations for the anticipated improvements. Our findings and recommendations will be <br /> summarized in a draft report prepared under the supervision of a California registered Geotechnical <br /> Engineer. At this time,we anticipate that the report will include the following items: <br /> • A description of the project including a vicinity map and site plans showing the approximate locations <br /> of our borings; <br /> • A description of the subsurface investigation, logs of borings, and results of laboratory tests; <br /> • A description of the surface (including a review of historical aerials) and subsurface site conditions <br /> encountered during our subsurface investigation, including depth of free groundwater if observed in <br />
