application, they propose to remodel their existing school to allow for up to 40 students at any
given time. Futures Academy provides a unique educational model that is different from the
typical school system. Instruction is primarily one-on-one and in small group settings allowing
individualized schedules while offering state certified courses and electives that meet high
school graduation requirements. As stated in the narrative, each student's class schedule is
developed on an individual basis, so every student's school day is unique to his or her needs
with no two students having the same schedule (Refer to Exhibit B for the sample schedule).
The space would be demised into multiple one-on-one classrooms, independent study rooms,
and a large central study area. This allows guided as well as instructed independent study.
Futures Academy offers a flexible, year-round academic schedule designed to meet the
demands of students whose needs don't conform to a "traditional" semester calendar. Typical
school hours would be Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. — 8:00 p.m., with only occasional
evening use to accommodate a small number of students who may have difficult schedules,
and Saturday uses for SAT and ACT preparation and testing. There would be approximately
15 teachers at any given time helping to facilitate instruction and guided independent study.
