14 POINTS
Households where at least one member of the signators of the tenant lease or purchase
agreement (and who is a member of the household) is either a Pleasanton resident or a
Pleasanton employee at the time of application and has continuously lived or worked in
the City of Pleasanton less than two years prior to the time of application.
12 POINTS
Household were at least one member of the signators of the tenant lease or purchase
agreement (and who is a member of the household) has an immediate relative (defined
as a son, daughter, brother, sister, and/or parent) who is a Pleasanton resident at the
time of application, provided the immediate relative has lived in the City of Pleasanton for
at least two years prior to the time of application.
10 POINTS
All other households.
In addition to the above points, one (1) bonus point will be given to households which
meet one or more of the following criteria: a) single parent head of household; b)
disabled person as defined herein; c) households in which at least one of the signators of
the tenant lease or purchase agreement has been a Pleasanton resident for seven
continuous years or longer prior to the time of application. A maximum of one (1) bonus
point may be awarded to any one household.
Proposed City's Preference System for the DPA Program
City staff is proposing the following modifications to the existing preference system in
order to assist public serving employees in receiving a DPA Program loan by retaining
the exiting 21 point system (including the opportunity for an additional bonus point if you
are a single parent household, have a disabled person in the household, or one of the
household members has lived in Pleasanton for seven continuous years or longer), but
adding the additional opportunity for the following bonus points:
In addition to the above points, two (2) bonus points will be given to any
household where at least one member of the signators of a Down Payment
Assistance Program applicant (and who is a member of the household) is
employed by the Pleasanton School District, the City of Pleasanton, the
Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, Alameda County, or any not for profit
agency providing social services to the residents of Pleasanton.
This proposed preference system for the DPA Program would only be utilized in
providing DPA Program loans to assist homebuyers in purchasing market-rate homes.
The existing 21-point preference system for the Below Market Rate (BMR) rental and
homeownership units would remain intact and unchanged. If City Council believes this
additional preference criteria should also apply to BMR units, staff will similarly amend
that criteria.
