Maps of public schools, public parks and <br />public recreation facilities, the proposed 1,000 -foot buffer, and tobacco retailer <br />locations5 are provided as Attachments 5 and 6: <br />Like the other restrictions discussed, this proposed restriction would go into effect on <br />July 1, 2020; would not apply'to wholesalers or distributors; and would -exempt products <br />authorized by the FDA for medical purposes. <br />Tobacco retailers are concerned that: if gas stations cannot.sell. cigarettes to adults, <br />then those adults will go elsewhere for gas, food, etc. _Retailers are also, concerned <br />about the distance restrictions and they want. restriction only 500 feet.from public <br />schools; or want restriction only 1,000 feet from public schools. <br />4. Packs. - - - <br />The Youth Commission was advised by speakers that tobacco retailers often sell low- <br />cost tobacco products in packs'of one, two or three. Such inexpensive items are more <br />accessible to all users, but especially to youth who are trying different tobacco- products. <br />and are. extremelyprice sensitive.
