Commissioners were informed that within the past 6 -months CityServe has had 70+ people go <br />through case -management in Pleasanton and have been provided assistance in finding or <br />keeping their homes. Additionally, they were provided information about the work that has <br />been conducted in finding safe parking places in Pleasanton for those people who are finding it. <br />necessary to sleep in their cars. CityServe is also looking to expand this service so these <br />people will be able to stay longer in one place instead of having to move each evening. <br />Ms. Beitsch-Bahmani noted that CityServe currently has two outreach individuals working in <br />the area and are looking to hire another person. <br />Commissioner Carlucci indicated that he would like to receive information about CityServe <br />meetings so he could arrange his schedule and plan to attend. Ms. Beitsch-Bahmani provided <br />details for the December meeting and promised to provide commissioner information about <br />future meetings and r establishment of quarterly meetings with agency CEO's. Commissioner. <br />Hayes suggested. Ms. Beitsch-Bahmani contact Melanie Sedak at the Valley Humane Society <br />for assistance with this. <br />Commissioner Gohil asked for additional information about the safe parking program and was <br />provided information about how work is being done to find locations where individuals can <br />rotate to different safe sites. She advised that. Claudia Young would be the staff person <br />administering this program. Ms. Beitsch-Bahmani confirmed for Mr. Ingram that individuals <br />sleeping in their vehicles are not required to participate in case -management but will be <br />strongly encouraged to do so. She stated that the goal is. to get people from having to live in <br />their cars. <br />Commissioner Sed lak was informed that people living in their car will be provided information <br />on safe sites to sleep from 7 pm to 7 am and porta-potties will be provided. at these sites.. . <br />Ms. Beitsch-Bahmani advised that some people living in their cars do work but are not earning <br />enough to afford rent. She advised that CityServe hopes to work with these individuals and <br />help provide them information about resources available to them.. <br />3. Review and Approve the 2020 Human Services Commission Schedule <br />Mr. Ingram reviewed with commissioners the planned meeting schedule for 2020 and asked <br />that they consider canceling or rescheduling meetings due to holidays or other conflicts. <br />Commissioner Clare discussed with Mr. Ingram the possibility of canceling the July 2020 <br />meeting.: He advised that meetings can ben canceled if there are none or few matters for the <br />agenda. <br />Human Services Commission <br />November 6,. 2019 - <br />Page 2 <br />
