Commissioner Hayes wanted to assure Commissioner Lem that any comments and <br />recommendations she makes to the Human Services Commission are important and well <br />considered by the commission. Commissioner Clare agreed and stated that it is not the intent <br />of this commission that youth members are not an asset. Commissioner Sedlak also- agreed <br />and felt it was important for all members of the commission to always involve the youth <br />member and ask for their input. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Sedlak, seconded by Commissioner Rubino Brumm, <br />recommending youth commission members of the Human -Services. Commission be allowed to . <br />vote only when two regular members of the commission are not, in attendance ata meeting. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Powers, Sedlak and Rubino, Brumm, <br />NOES: Commissioners Carlucci, Clare, Hayes and Chairperson Parikh <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Gohil <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Commissioner Clare felt the motion did not take into consideration the earlier concern raised <br />about a youth. member on the commission needing more time to fully understand- about the <br />work of commission and all the agencies that request funding. <br />Commissioner Hayes discussed with Ms. Thomas the nature of grants that are considered by <br />the Youth Commission. <br />A motion was made by. Commissioner Rubino Brumm,. recommending youth members of a <br />commission be allowed to vote when non-financial. matters are being considered.
