Bernal Community Park — installing of 30 -cubic yards of compost to turn and no -mow fescue <br />and new four -inch backflow device and performing annual weed abatement at the Oak <br />Woodland. <br />Civic Center — Installing new plant material around 123 Main Street. <br />Cubby's Dog Park — removing large muddy mound and installing 100 -cubic yards of new <br />playground mulch. <br />Fairlands Park — installing small concrete pad for new garbage can and removal of a <br />Chinese Pistache tree. <br />Fire Station Four — removing a large Willow tree and installing new plants at entry driveway. <br />Hansen Park — installing four new concrete picnic tables, replacing playground with new 5- <br />12 -year age appropriate structure, and replacing rotted fencing with new chain link fence. <br />Heatherlark Park — removing two silk trees. <br />Ken Mercer Sports Park — installing new behind Little League field, installing six new <br />reclaimed water filters, removing mound on Hardball B to accommodate softball users. <br />Meadowlark Park — remove illegal BMX bike course. <br />Moller Park — remove two large Italian Stone pines. <br />Museum on Main — install new Deodar cedar from Oregon to replace the dead Christmas <br />tree and install new landscaping. <br />Orloff Park — repaired and repainted masonry wall at the entrance. <br />Valley Trails Park — installed new mulch in planter areas. <br />Val Vista Community Park — renovated soccer fields, installed new BBQ's, removed four <br />pear trees, and repaired vandalism damage. <br />Additional areas of responsibilities include: Trails, Open Space, Median, Urban Forest, <br />Augustin Bernal Trail, Marilyn Murphy Kane Trail, Martin and Mohr Open Space, City. <br />Medians, Downtown Colo Bowls, and Urban Forest Management. <br />Commissioners asked about the size and cost of the tree replacement at the Museum on <br />Main, the Martin and Mohr Open Space and the trails. <br />Commissioner Hottle thanked Parks Maintenance staff for all their hard work and expressed <br />how thankful people are with the condition of parks. Chairperson Bowers indicated he had <br />received a nice comment about field conditions from a player from Oregon. <br />Commissioner Deckert was provided information by Mr. Fiorio on the median care done by a <br />contractor hired by the City. <br />Commissioner Wahl asked about replacement trees at Val Vista Park. Mr. Fiorio and Mr. <br />Gruber provided information about removal of pear trees and replacement with a different <br />species. <br />6. Review and Discuss the Library and Recreation Department Strategic Plan 2019- <br />2024 <br />Ms. Murphy advised that with direction and support of Management Partners the Library and <br />Recreation Department has spent the past year working to create a strategic plan to help <br />guide library and recreation programs and services for the next five years.
