Miscellaneous Park Projects — <br />Playground Renovation — Hansen Park completed and the playground opened May 6, <br />2019. Miracle Systems submitted 100% construction documents for the Mission Hills <br />slide on June 21, 2019. <br />Downtown Planters — Planting in the downtown color bowls was replaced in May. <br />Eventide — Staff continues to see a location for this sculpture and will return with plans <br />before the end of the calendar year. <br />Centennial Towers — In June the City hired an electrical engineer for the electrical aspect <br />of this project. <br />Pollinators — This art piece is being shipped and installation is expected to take place in <br />August or September. <br />With regard to the Wayside & Delucchi Parks project Commissioner Deckert asked about <br />the contact staff had with Brian Wines from the RWQCB. Mr. Gruber advised that <br />discussions had taken place regarding flow of the water. Chairperson Bowers questioned <br />whether any changes will made and Mr. Gruber indicated there would definitely be a creek <br />and some discussion had taken place regarding retention ponds. Commissioner Deckert <br />commented on flow in the creek during heavy rains. <br />Commissioner Fields discussed with Mr. Gruber the phasing of the cemetery project. He <br />advised that phase 3 will be completed this fall, which includes wayfinding, improved <br />landscaping along Sunol, and hanging baskets. $350,000 will be set aside each year for <br />phase 4. <br />Commissioner Fields was advised that the timeframe for the bocce court renovation was <br />approximately 60 -days from start of construction to completion. Mr. Gruber also advised that <br />color bowl plants in the cemetery will be changed out periodically depending on weather <br />conditions. <br />Chairperson Bowers thanked staff for a good report. <br />5. Review and Discuss the Parks Maintenance Division Quarterly Report for April — <br />June 2019 (Q2) <br />Mr. Fiorio reviewed with commissioners the April — June 2019 Parks Maintenance Division <br />Quarterly Report. He advised that routine maintenance for the second quarter included <br />weekly turf mowing, pesticide applications, mulch installation, tree removal, irrigation system <br />repairs/programming, turf renovation, plant installation, leaf removal, vandalism repair, <br />sidewalk grinding, stump grinding, equipment maintenance, sidewalk edging, storm clean- <br />up, ball field preparation, and weekly play area safety inspections. <br />Additional projects performed by Parks staff during the quarter included: <br />Amador Valley Community Park — installation of a new 2 -5 -year age appropriate structure at <br />Gingerbread Preschool. <br />Amaral Park — installation of four new concrete benches, removal and replacement of <br />concrete next to play area. <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br />August 8, 2019 <br />Page 3 <br />
