Commissioner Rubino Brumm asked about other available sources that could provide meals <br />to those on the waitlist. <br />Commissioner Gohill was advised that clients of Spectrum receive one -meal per day. <br />CALICO Center — Pleasanton Child Abuse Intervention Program — thanked the Commission for <br />support of their program. Advised that 24 interviews were conducted with Pleasanton <br />residents from 4-17 years of age who were able to speak with someone trained to gather <br />information and help them with what had happened. Information collected in recorded on a <br />DVD and most cases referred to CALICO come from the Pleasanton Police, others from <br />Livermore Police. Most cases were sexual and physical abuse of girls who were often <br />provided information about internet safety. <br />Legal. Assistance for Seniors — Legal Assistance for Seniors — no representative attending. <br />Report was provided after the Commission meeting. <br />The goals of Legal Assistance for Seniors for the 2018/2019 was to provide 19 direct legal <br />services to Pleasanton seniors in the area of. Elder Abuse, Housing, Health Law, <br />Naturalization, Public Benefits, and Guardianship of Minor Children, along with 6 Community <br />Education presentations -to 220 seniors/caregivers/service providers, and LAS Health <br />Insurance Counseling and Advocacy to 75. Medicare recipients in Pleasanton. LAS was in fact <br />able to assist 29 Pleasanton seniors on legal matters, provide 214 hours of legal services and <br />meet with 152 Medicare recipients to provide LAS Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy. <br />Easter Seals Bay Area — Easter Seals Kaleidoscope Community Adult Program - the program <br />has been open for one year on their new site and information was provided about the services <br />for their 22 and over clients. The programs help clients learn job skills and other. skills. The <br />program has a total of 18 participants five of which are Pleasanton residents. <br />Commissioner Powers was informed that Easter Seals collects $80/day for each client from <br />the Regional Center but costs to run the program are approximately$120/day. <br />Commissioner Rubino Brumm indicated that her son is a participant in this program. <br />Chabot -LP / One Stop Career Center — Pleasanton Job Initiative 2018/2019 and Pleasanton <br />VIA 2018/2019 — thanked the City of Pleasanton for support. Advised that these programs are <br />vital timeline for people in poverty. Free tax preparation was provided to 557 individuals, 154 <br />of which .were from Pleasanton. Funding has helped Chabot -LP pay for staffing of this <br />program and they now have a number of returning clients. The office for this program will be <br />moving back to Pleasanton and the agency has received a small grant from United Way to <br />allow them to work with the 2020 census. <br />Commissioner Carlucci asked about the agency's contact.with the Internal Revenue Service. <br />City Serve of the Tri -Valley — CityServe of the Tri -Valley commented on the transitions taking <br />place in CityServe and what this meant for the 2018-2019 cycle.
