Ms. Parham advised that program applications will be available at the Firehouse Arts Center, <br />Library, and online. It was suggested by the. Commission that a lot of "buzz" words be used in <br />the. flyer being prepared by Ms. Parham and that she tries to advertise on school Facebook <br />pages and ENews, and also contact band teachers. A recommendation was also made that <br />consideration be given to changing the name of the program. <br />Chairperson Pellegrino discussed with Commissioner Morales the use of social media by <br />teens. <br />Commissioner -Song felt that the process for selecting a Teen Poet Laureate was too long. <br />Chairperson Pellegrino commented on ways of educating the public about poetry and <br />suggested providing a video about the process with the application. <br />Commissioner Wheeler noted .that being a Teen .Poet. Laureate, looks good on college <br />applications and Chairperson Pellegrino discussed the need for doing some brainstorming. <br />Ms. Parham indicated that she would send an electronic version of the flyer when complete to <br />Commissioners for them to review.. J <br />5. Overview of the Harrington Art Gallery Upcoming Programs by Alena Sauzade, <br />Recreation Leader III, Visual Arts.& Gallery Curator <br />Ms. Sauzade commented on her teaching experience at Los Positas College and her efforts. <br />and goals for increasing participation and attendance at the gallery .through outreach and <br />programming that includes: <br />• Meet the Artist <br />• Use of high school music groups <br />• Senior tours and working with the Senior Center <br />• Patio parties with free activities before and during Friday evenings Music in the Park <br />• Gallery programs for youth, i.e. Young at Art with follow-up art. lessons and, a Future Art <br />program that will launch in September. <br />• Coffee with the Curator and speaker series that focuses on engaging visitors with <br />presentations by gallery exhibitors <br />Ms. Sauzade provided the following information about.upcoming exhibitions: <br />6/14 — 7/20, 2019 Opening of California Art Club <br />8/2.— 9/14, 2019 Play Date <br />9/26 - 10/26, 2019.Science Lecturing on Art <br />Also details of the Pleasanton Art League's 10th Annual Exhibition. <br />Commissioner Nene questioned whether information about events would be provided on the <br />Firehouse Arts Center mailing list. Ms. Sauzade advised that it was not currently included, ,but <br />she would now add items to that list.
