Meeting Summary, Mission Hills Big Slide Renovation
December 15, 2018
Page 2
14.Make option 2 steeper to climb up.
15.Option 2 can accommodate twice the amount of users.
16.1 would like to race from friend down the slide on option 2 (kid).
17.I like option 2 because you can go up the surfacing or take the stairs.
18. Teenagers using the slide at night can be a nuisance—a concrete
slide would be less noisy.
19.Don't make the climb up too steep so that it is more kid-friendly.
20.Consider sand or rubberized surfacing at the bottom of the slide
instead of engineered wood fiber.
21.Make the slide wide enough for adults to go down with their kids.
22.The design should consider a way to prevent bikes from going down
the slide.
23.Option 2 is great for kids from 2-years old.
24.Don't install a plastic slide
25.Keep skateboards off the slide.
26.Provide bigger garbage cans that can be used to throw away the
cardboard used to go down the slide.
27.Will option 2 look good in 15 years? It seems like it would be a
maintenance challenge.
28.Consider a 3rd option with the dual slide, but the classic look to limit
costs and maintenance problems.
Emailed Comments:
Xiaochao Xu, 12/20/2018
I did not have chance to attend the meeting at the park. But I just want to write to show my support to
have it repaired/renovated. It is one of the best feather of park, or even all Pleasanton parks. So please
keep it running.
Svetlana Banks, 12/19/2018
Thank you Matt. I also like option 2, although it may be more difficult to upkeep. I'm just so glad to
hear that the slide is not going away. My kids love it. Thank you so much for your time.
Jenny Erickson, 12/18/2018
I was not able to make the Mission Hills Park slide meeting today. However, my family and friends love
the slide and would be happy to give our input or hear about the renovation options discussed.
