BACKGROUND
WCA was originally selected in May 2000 to complete the City's annual tree trimming
and removal services contract and to conduct the City's first tree inventory. WCA was
again awarded a contract with the City to provide tree trimming, removal, and inventory
management services on June 2, 2015 after successfully completing a Request for
Proposal (RFP) process.
DISCUSSION
In order for WCA to accomplish city-wide tree trimming, the City is divided into eight
districts. Each district has a complete tree inventory detailing the history of tree
trimming, cost of each trimming, size of the tree, and value of the tree. Although all of
the trees along Main Street and throughout the downtown are trimmed annually, a
complete tree trimming cycle throughout the entire City is performed on a four to five
year cycle.
In addition to providing tree trimming services for the Parks Division, WCA provides
services to the Engineering Department. Out of the annual contract approximately
$55,000 is utilized by the Engineering Department for tree trimming to clear City trees in
preparation for the annual street resurfacing project and the City's Heritage Tree
Program. The remaining budget is used to maintain approximately 24,500 City trees
located in parks, median, parking strips, and facility landscapes.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved,by:
!cco, A 44._ /Nik
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachments:
1.
