Commissioner Deckert noted that he had grown up in the area of this park and wished <br />there had been a tot lot then. <br />Chairperson Bowers felt the Concept Plan was great and felt it should. be approved since <br />the neighbors want. to see it completed. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Hottle, seconded by Commissioner Deckert; to <br />approve the Concept Plan for the Valley Trails Tot Lot as provided in the report with the <br />inclusion of some seating benches. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />AYES: <br />Commissioners Deckert, Hottle and Chairperson Bowers. <br />NOES: <br />None. <br />ABSENT: <br />Commissioners Fields, Hekl, and Wahl <br />ABSTAIN: <br />None <br />7. Review and Comment on the Quarterly Library and Recreation Department <br />Report for January -March 2019 <br />Ms. Murphy reviewed with Commissioners the January -March 2019 Quarterly- Library - <br />and Recreation Department Report.. She advised that the report -highlights areas. of . <br />programs and services including new programs and services that includes: 1) Tule Home <br />framework completion, 2) the Senior Center celebration of Multi -Cultural Awareness <br />Month, 3) the Paratransit Fair, 4) Sensory Storytime for children with ASD, 5) VIP <br />Learning database for Spanish speakers, and 6) Robots on the Loose! Robotics_ and <br />Coding for Kids pilot program. <br />Commissioner Deckert liked the new report format and was.especially pleased to see <br />how many people had visited the library, checked out books, and obtained new library <br />cards: <br />Commissioner Hekl also liked the report and the report provided about the number of <br />people who had attended shows and events at the -Firehouse Art Center. <br />Commissioner Hottle liked the layout and information about new programs and.services. <br />He liked that the city is providing this information and offering programs for kids with <br />special needs.,.- Commissioner Hottle asked about providing classes for Excel at the <br />.Library. Ms. Murphy advised that there was not a demand for this to be provided at -the <br />library, but it is offered at the Senior Center. <br />Chairperson Bowers agreed that this is a good report and provides useful information <br />COMMISSION REPORTS <br />8.
