Commissioner Deckert questioned why the cart fee was not included with the green fee <br />as was being done with some other golf courses. He was advised that this was not <br />being done because a number of golfers prefer to walk and it would be fair to include the <br />increase for them. <br />Commissioner Hottle indicated that he uses the Callippe course often and talked about <br />how he had once reported an issue and it was repaired quickly. He felt that Callippe <br />could easily compete with many other courses and still be one of the better courses. <br />Chairperson Bowers.had questions regarding use time of the golf course and whether <br />discounted fees could be lowered during slow times. He was provided information about <br />market share and why this would not be feasible. <br />Commissioners Hottle and Deckert had questions about the. .new carts with GPS. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Hottle, seconded by Commissioner Deckert, to <br />approve the proposed fee changes for Callippe Preserve Golf Course for July 1, 2019. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE:. <br />AYES: Commissioners Deckert, Hottle and Chairperson Bowers. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Commissioners Fields, Hekl, and Wahl. <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />6. Review the Concept Plan and Public Input for the Valley Trails Tot Lot and <br />Provide a Recommendation <br />Mr. Gruber advised that the City of Pleasanton is planning to install a new tot lot (for 2 -5 - <br />year -olds) at the Valley Trails Park. He advised that the tot lot will be installed on the <br />western side. of the park adjacent to the proposed restroom and the existing playgrounds <br />for 5 -12 -year. -olds. <br />Commissioners were advised by Mr. Gruber that public outreach was conducted on <br />March 2, 2019 to gather input from the community, this input and comments'are included <br />in the report. Mr. Gruber advised that primary comments from the community were <br />regarding the location of the tot lot, members of the community wanted the total lot to.be <br />closer, to the other playground so.parents could easily watch their children playing in <br />both play areas, they also wanted the tot lot to be close to the restroom and wanted that <br />the tot lot equipment have some shaded area. <br />Mr. Gruber reviewed with Commissioners a site plan showing the changes and advised. <br />that staffcontacted the play equipment company to be sure that shade coverings could <br />be added.Chairperson Bowers was advised by Mr. -Gruber that the coverings would <br />made of a material similar to canvas. <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br />May 9, 2019 <br />Page 4 <br />
